Sat Broadband Gets a Boost; MSS Outlook & More 18 Aug 2010 - 13:54 by soullezz Industry News | Sat Broadband Boost: Satellite broadband is getting a push from Gilat's Spacenet subsidiary as it introduces its new StarBundle. The bundle offers satellite equipment and installation for $0 after a $150 mail-in rebate is applied, and is available with all new StarBand Nova services. MSS Outlook: Mobile satellite services haven't exactly flourished during the past few years of global economic woes. But according to analysts at NSR, the industry generally held its own, growing a few percentage points in 2009. The future, however, could be bright, says NSR, as MSS/terrestrial plays show signs of taking off. $$$: DIRECTV Holdings closed its public offering of senior notes with net proceeds of $2.96 billion. --- Nielsen's IPO plans just got grander as the private equity-owned firm boosted its public offering goal to $2.01 billion, up from the previously announced $1.75 billion. --- Collins Stewart's Tom Eagan says that Liberty Starz should top $950M as it re-ups its deal with Netflix. He boosts his target price from $57 to $69. Retail: Universal Electronics will demonstrate a new advanced remote control at IBC2010. The point-and-click remote allows for advanced, web-connected content options as well as 3D. Programming: GolTV, kicks off the 2010-2011 German Bundesliga season with HD coverage of Hamburg vs. Schalke 04 on Aug. 21. --- The Outdoor Channel won two first-place spots and six second-place spots for the 31st Annual Telly Awards in the categories of documentary, education, nature/wildlife and information. as seen on skyreport |
