Motorola cracking down on Droid X Android 2.2 update leak
By Rachel King | August 23, 2010

Even though the Droid X is expected to get Android 2.2 next month, the awaited update already leaked, and Motorola isn’t pleased.Motorola has already commenced sending out cease and desist messages to anyone who has posted the leaked Froyo upgrade, which include a point about removing read-only memory from the relevant sites as well.

There isn’t a defined reason for the crackdown, but it’s also not the best idea to download an unofficial version of a software update anyway. It could be vulnerable to security hacks, faulty in certain areas, and possibly prevent your smartphone from working altogether. September isn’t too far off to wait for anyway.
